You didn't mention your platform,--but if it's amiga, I've found a great
utility that helps in my removeable media work.  I, too, have a Syq, and
I used to have trouble sometimes when I'd swap a disk.  The system
wouldn't recognize the new disk, even though it had been previously
formatted.  I'd have to reboot.

Someone told me of an excellent utility called SCSImounter, that cured
such ills once and for all.  (It's down on aminet, or I can e it to you,
if you like).
